Hi everyone,
I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for making season one of 2024 such a great experience. As we gear up for season two, I wanted to share some important updates and exciting news with you.
Firstly, I'm thrilled to announce that registration for season two is now open! Please register as soon as you can. We have already extended the numbers for one age group so if you could not register recently please try again as it should be ok now.
Welcome day
To kick off the new season, we will be hosting a welcome day on 6th July at Runcorn State High School. This will be a great opportunity for everyone to come together, meet the coaches, and get ready for the exciting times ahead. Stay tuned for an email in the next few days with more details about the activities planned for the welcome day.
Recap of Season 1 - Throughout each season, we organize various special events and activities to enhance the overall experience for our members. From skill clinics and workshops to team-building activities and social gatherings, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. These events will not only foster a sense of community but also provide additional opportunities for learning and growth.
• Movie day at Sunnybank Plaza, where we took had nine theatres and enjoyed watching ourselves on the big screen and a couple of fantastic films together.
• Hosted a small holiday camp for our younger members
• 3 teams played against a Toowoomba School
• Supplied Coaches at Gala days at Warrigal Road State Primary School
• Had NBL1 and QSL players coach teams
• Had our u8/u10 play on 4 occasions play during half time at NBL1 games
Community initiatives – We will always have a strong commitment to giving back to the community whether it's through donations, volunteer work, or collaborative events, we aim to make a positive impact and strengthen our ties with the community
- Supplied and installed water fountains at Calamvale Community College
- Received approval from approval from the Brisbane City Council to install a new water fountain at Hibiscus
- We had the privilege of supporting the International Women's Day event at Runcorn State High School through our donation
- One of our sponsor Qford at Springwood has now also supplied new Score boards with Blue tooth scoring and a Score bench for us at Runcorn State High School
Coaching - By focusing on these goals, the Coaching Excellence Program aims to provide our players with a comprehensive and holistic basketball experience. We believe that a strong foundation in skill development, tactical understanding, physical conditioning, and personal growth will enable our players to excel both on and off the court.
- Engaged the services of Mack Utai as our Coaches Coach
- Range of external coaches who were NBL1 players or QSL players
- Di Lama will now be taking our FNYL teams and taking our girl’s team to Taiwan
Looking ahead - For the upcoming season, we have some truly exciting plans that are sure to elevate the experience for all our members. Here's a sneak peek at what's in store:
• New girls coach is Di Lama – very experienced coach that brings a wealth of knowledge with her
• Will compete in the tournament in Coffs Harbour in December again
• Club Championships – looking at doing more teams this year
• Working with clubs from different areas to arrange mini tournaments
• Taiwan tour in September – girls team and boys team
• Holding our own Coaching clinics with the first being this Thursday 4th July
Once again, I want to express my sincere appreciation for your support and dedication to the children throughout season one. It has been an absolute pleasure to have everyone as part of our club, and I can't wait to see what season two has in store for us.
Our cost each week to Southwest Metro is $5,200 and training each week is just over $1,000. As you see it is a considerable amount to us but we have be able to get a sponsors to help us with this, we try to help our members anyway we can.
