SUPPORTING YOUNGER CHILDREN IN PLAYING BASKETBALL - UNDER 10
Our Under 10 program is a wonderful program of fun and learning the skills of Basketball from our accredited coaches. Our children train once a week and play organised games on a Saturday.
Basketball is a safe, welcoming, inclusive sport and can be played by both boys and girls of all abilities. Children who play basketball develop teamwork skills while boosting their confidence and self-esteem so it is wonderful for the development of young children.
Our coaching of this age group concentrates on fun and in the process they will learn the skills of Basketball. We have music playing when this age group train and both coaches and parents of the children have seen the benefits of music for this age groups. Children learn so much better when enjoying themselves and we believe we have a great learning environment.
We use a process of stations training for this age group where in each training session the children learn a range of different skills, drills and then play mock games during the session.
This age group's official games will be played on a full court where the rules are relaxed. The team can have 4 or 5 players on the court from each team and having teams of this size allows more opportunities for each child and greater spacing on the court.
All ages have 2 full competition seasons and each season is 2 terms of school, Basketball is different to a lot of other sports in that it is played all year around.
To play games every player needs Rockets game shorts and the game singlet will be given to them on game day. Under 9 and Under 10 play with size 5 balls.
Fees:
Seasonal fee - $300 (if there are 2 or more members the 2nd and subsequent family members get a 15% discount on the Seasonal fees. The fees cover training fees, game fees, insurances, Public liability etc)
