Hi everyone,

Games are finished but we still have training this week.

We have had lots of new people join this season and I would like to share a story about 2 children in the club which I hope shows what we are all about.

We had a child come to training and would not participate at all. At one stage he just stood leaning up against the wall. After a while he did eventually do a little. This boy then tried the U8 games & cried during the game and left the court at this stage I thought we would never see him again. The next week the boy came back to training & did a little more and then came to Saturday game .

His parents said all he talks about now is Basketball & looks forward to coming back every week. We have had a child with an intellectual disability train with us for over 2 years. We find children that are introverted or find it hard to interact with others do get a benefit from playing Basketball. Children that just like running around and enjoy other people’s company also thrive in this environment so Basketball is a great fit for everyone.

You don’t have to be great to participate in sport, but if you participate sport is great. Children make friends, learn to mix with others, gain confidence, show leadership and see what can be achieved through hard work. These are life skills that benefit both the mind and the body of our children. We love seeing happy kids with big smiles on their faces.

I would like to thank the coaches and helpers that make this all achievable.
