Registration

Registration will be open tomorrow Thursday 8th December for 2023.

You’ll find the registration form different for this year as we have joined most of the clubs in registering with the basketball Queensland online process Basketball connect.

One of the major things that we found is that you will be asked for payment upfront. This is not something we asked for but it is their process. It also does not allow Fairplay vouchers to be credited against the fee due. However Rockets will be able to refund you the value of the voucher via Basketball connect (refunded to your credit card or bank account used to pay the fees).

Note you will also need to purchase the family registration of $45 from the Basketball connect shop – remember this fee is payable only once per calendar year per family (same household).

On our homepage, you will see three separate boxes which will link to different areas in relation to the type of basketball that you are interested in either as a Player, Train Only (only shows u12 but it is for all ages), or as a Coach and Volunteer (no fee)

Below is how the start of the season will be so you can make a decision when the best time to register as we do not want any of their current members to miss out on coming back.

Planned for the start of 2023

1. Trial day on Saturday 21/01/2023 – teams will be organised
1. We will finalise teams, coaches and locations
2. Do merchandise on the day – shorts and we will have a new training shirt that we have designed with New Balance
3. Maybe a BBQ and drinks
4. We will send out the age schedule for the day a week or so prior to the day

2. Teams need to be given to SWM on 29^th January
3. Training starts week of 30/01/2023
4. First game 3 & 4/02/2023.
5. There are 4 trial games in 2023

Location of games - venue

Southwest will now be playing games on a Saturday morning and Friday night at three different locations, Hibiscus, Runcorn Stadium and Marsden State High School.

We will also have some teams training at Marsden State High School 2023. Our training venues for 2023 will be Runcorn State High School, Marsden State High School, Warrigal Road State School, Hibiscus Stadium and maybe MacGregor State Primary School.

As the Marsden area is a new area to me I tested the time to the school venue. My home is near Warrigal Road State School and takes me 16 minutes to get to Hibiscus Stadium. When we were using Calamvale it took me 20 minutes to get there and Marsden State High school takes 19 minutes so from Warrigal Road School everything is within 20 minutes.

I have also visited the 3 court venue at Marsden State High School 1 court is 12 months old and the other two courts are a couple of years old, so they are very new, the school cleans the floor before we use them, parking is excellent and I think it will be a great venue for both us and Southwest Metro.
